An air-conditioning leak had exposed the rug to moisture, creating concerns about mold, mildew, and lingering moisture-related odors. The client contacted Rug Refinery promptly after discovering the issue.
We carefully treated the rug for the effects of the water exposure, removing the affected contamination and thoroughly cleaning the rug to eliminate mold and mildew-related residue and odors. The rug was then properly dried to help prevent the moisture problem from returning.
The rug was cleaned, dried, and restored to a clean condition after the AC leak. The client was able to safely return the rug to her SoHo home.

Antique Wool Rug Repair & Cleaning on the Upper East Side
This antique wool rug had significant damage along the edge and fringe, with years of wear affecting the appearance and condition of the rug. The client contacted Rug Refinery from the Upper East Side of Manhattan to have the antique rug professionally restored and cleaned.
We carefully repaired the damaged edge and restored the affected fringe by hand. Once the structural work was completed, the rug received a full-submersion hand wash, thorough rinse, and controlled drying appropriate for an antique wool rug.
The damaged edge was stabilized, the fringe was secured, and the rug's original colors and pattern became noticeably clearer after cleaning. The finished rug was returned ready to be enjoyed again in the client's Upper East Side home.

Deep Soak Cleaning for a Shag Rug in Brooklyn
Years of accumulated dust, soil, and debris had settled deep into the rug, leaving the pile looking dull and heavily soiled. The rug also had visible staining that had built up over time.
We gave the rug a deep-submersion hand wash and thorough rinse, allowing us to remove embedded soil and debris from throughout the pile rather than simply cleaning the surface.
The rug's original color became noticeably brighter after the wash, and remarkably, the stains disappeared during the initial cleaning. While stains don't always come out completely during the first wash, this rug responded exceptionally well to the deep-cleaning process.
The result was a dramatically cleaner, brighter rug with the pattern and pile looking refreshed again.

Dog-Damaged Oushak Rug Repair in Tribeca
The client contacted Rug Refinery in a panic after her dog severely damaged the corner of her $10,000 Oushak rug. The damage had chewed through the rug's corner and affected the surrounding border and pattern.
We reconstructed the damaged corner by hand, carefully color-matched the replacement wool to the existing rug, and recreated the surrounding pattern so the repaired area would blend naturally into the original design.
The damaged corner was structurally rebuilt and the pattern was restored to flow naturally with the rest of the rug. The Oushak was returned to the client ready to go back on the floor.

Vintage Rug Edge Repair & Pattern Matching in SoHo
What began as a small section of loose edging gradually became extensive damage. Over several months of everyday foot traffic and vacuuming, the weakened edge continued to unravel until a large section was coming apart.
We rebuilt the damaged edge by hand and carefully matched the existing pattern and border so the repaired section would blend naturally with the original vintage rug.
The deteriorated edge was fully rebuilt and secured, restoring the border and allowing the vintage rug to be safely used again.
